Welcome to the Chan Lab!

Our Research Goal

The Chan lab is an academic research laboratory within the Microbiology and Immunology Department at SUNY Upstate Medical University, located in Syracuse, NY. Our overarching research goal is focused on studying host-pathogen interactions involving human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) and understanding how HCMV-mediated alterations to cellular function lead to human disease. In particular, our work emphasizes on how HCMV alters the functional biology of infected monocytes and examining novel small-molecule inhibitors that target the unique cellular changes induced by HCMV.
